Chu Kong Petroleum and Natural Gas Steel Pipe Holdings Limited has won the bid for the middleeast East dock engineering project of Daewoo Engineering & Construction Co.,Ltd. due to its outstanding product quality and capabilities. Daewoo Engineering & Construction Co.,Ltd., founded in 1973 and headquartered in Seoul, South Korea, is primarily engaged in the construction of social infrastructure and housing, as well as in the energy industry. Upon completion, this project will become the largest port in the #middleeast region, thoroughly reversing the shortage situation of the short coastal line and poor port throughput capacity there, and injecting new impetus into the local economic development.

In 2020, Daewoo Engineering & Construction Co.,Ltd. signed a contract worth $2.625 billion with the local government to construct Phase I of this port project. This includes the breakwater, channel dredging, 5 container berths (with a throughput capacity of 3.5 million TEUs), roads and other infrastructure works. Phase I is scheduled for completion in 2025,and will be capable of docking the world's largest container ships.

The first phase of the project plans to build a solid quay wall to facilitate the mooring of ships, loading and unloading of goods, and movement of vehicles. Due to the average depth of the natural seabed in the construction area is only 6m, the first phase of the project plans to build a 1,750-meter-long container berth with a dredging depth of 19.8 meters. To ensure the stability of the container dock built on soft clay and sandy soil layers, steel pipe piles are needed to reinforce the foundation. Our company will provide spiral steel pipes for offshore piling with lengths of 44-52 meters, wall thickness of 25mm, and diameters of 1,420mm and 1,220mm, with a total weight of around 68,000 metric tons.

Compared to ordinary spiral structuresteel pipes, spiral steel pipes for offshore piling have higher strength, better toughness and superior corrosion resistance. These characteristics make them an ideal supporting material for offshore structures and are widely used in offshore oil platforms, offshore wind power, cross-sea bridges, port terminals, tunnel projects and other fields.

At the same time, considering the uniqueness of the marine environment, the surface of spiral structuresteel pipes for offshore piling needs to be coated with a layer of high-performance anticorrosive coating to resist erosion from seawater, salt spray and other corrosive substances. The products applied in this application use glass flake #epoxy painting for external anticorrosion protection to ensure their stability and durability in marine infrastructure projects.

As the individual lengths of these pile pipes far exceed the 18m load length that can be carried by road trucks, Chu Kong Petroleum and Natural Gas Steel Pipe Holdings Limited ships the goods directly to customers via barges and its own wharves, reducing transport distances and save time and money to keep goods moving. Our company owns two 5,000DWT-class berths, respectively for general breakbulk cargo and large steel pipe shipment; as well as two quayside gantry cranes and two 45mt pedestal cranes with a total lifting capacity of 300mt which are dedicated to the quayside, with well-equipped wharfs and lifting equipment to escort the seaborne shipments.
