Delivery of Steel Pile Pipes for Guangxi LNG Phase III Expansion Project

PCK has successfully won the bid for the steel pile pipes for the Phase III Expansion Project of Guangxi Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) thanks to its outstanding product capabilities. The proposed project is located on the east side of Wharf No.1 in Zhaluo Operating Area, Tieshan West Port Area, Beihai Port, Guangxi. It is a key project promoted by Guangxi Gas Group Co., Ltd. to accelerate the construction of natural gas storage capacity in Guangxi. For this phase III expansion project, Zhujiang Oil and Gas Steel Pipe Holdings Co., Ltd. will supply 545 steel pile pipes in two specifications: 1.2m diameter, 20mm/22mm wall thickness steel piles; and 1.2m diameter, 22mm/24mm wall thickness steel piles, with a designed length of 55m-60m.

The main construction content of the project consists of two parts: the wharf project and the receiving station project. The wharf project plans to utilize the planned LNG berth in the Zhaluo Operating Area of Beihai Port Tieshan West Port Area to construct 1 berth for a 266,000 cubic meter LNG carrier and corresponding supporting facilities. The receiving station is adjacent to the new site of the Guangxi LNG project, and will construct 8 LNG storage tanks, adding 6 million tons/year of receiving capacity. The early phase of the project will construct 4 tanks with working capacity of 220,000 cubic meters each and other supporting facilities, reserving space for 4 LNG storage tanks with 270,000 cubic meters working capacity each and other supporting facilities and cold energy utilization facilities. Construction of the receiving station began in 2022, and the supporting wharf project will officially start construction in 2023, planned for completion in 2025.

During the wharf pile driving process, spiral welded pipes are inserted underground to utilize their strength and stability to support the wharf structure. At the same time, the corrosion resistance of the spiral welded pipes also extends the service life of the pile foundation. The large diameter and high strength design of these steel pipes can increase the load bearing capacity and wind resistance of the wharf, ensuring stability and safety.
