The PCK Zhuhai Base Terminal, located in the Huangmaohai operation area in the northern part of Gaolan Harbor, Zhuhai City, has achieved a 20,000-ton docking capacity and a throughput design capacity of 1,000,000 tons per year. The terminal's original approved capacity includes two 5000-ton berths: one for general cargo and one for steel pipe shipping. The project passed completion and acceptance in October 2016. In September 2021, the berthing standards for the original 5000-ton berth were successfully upgraded to 20,000 tons.
In recent years, the city's port transportation industry has been rapidly developing. Due to the strong demand for capacity in the global water transportation market, there is a trend towards larger ships. Currently, Zhuhai Base Terminal serves as an important transportation hub in the Huangmaohai area. The Huangmaohai channel has been upgraded to a 50,000-ton level, and the majority of ships in the operation area are 10,000-ton ships. In the production and operation process of the terminal logistics company, larger ships have become the norm for incoming and outgoing traffic. Therefore, upgrading the terminal is imperative.
To meet the development needs of building a world-class port, it is crucial to maximize the potential of the terminal, alleviate berthing pressure, enhance shoreline resource efficiency, and fully utilize the advantages of the port terminal location. This is the core focus of the Zhuhai base terminal upgrading.
With the support of the Guangdong Provincial Department of Transportation, the Zhuhai City District Government, the Zhuhai Maritime Bureau, and the Zhuhai Bureau of Transportation, and under the guidance of Chairman Chen Chang of PCK Zhuhai's Board of Directors, PCK Zhuhai Terminal Logistics Co., Ltd. developed an upgrading plan in accordance with the 20,000-ton standard. The plan was implemented in three specific areas: structural reinforcement, technology, and transformation and upgrading.
Zhuhai Terminal Logistics Company developed a specific upgrade program based on the original terminal design, navigational requirements, and safety measures. After several expert group meetings, the program was approved, upgrading the original 5,000-ton berth to a 20,000-ton berth.
After upgrading the wharf's berthing capacity, the carrying capacity of a single ship and the overall throughput capacity of the wharf have significantly improved. This improvement has helped to make Zhuhai's industrial layout more reasonable and is in line with the development trend of mainstream ship types. Through upgrades and transformations, the Zhuhai base terminal has become an important carrier of a diversified shipping center. It drives industrial upgrading by radiating and promoting the port ecosystem. The construction of 'business flow, information flow, logistics, and capital flow' has positive significance in promoting the construction of the Huangmao Sea area and spot trading center. It enhances the competitiveness of transportation and the industry status of the distribution center, releases the berthing capacity of the wharf, improves the operating efficiency of the wharf, and promotes the perfection of the function of the port area.
PCK Logistics Company implements the national development strategies of "Belt and Road" and "Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao Bay Area". We fully understand the strategic layout of PCK Group's development and aim to maximize the potential efficiency of the terminal industry. We effectively utilize our resources and tap into the potential of logistics to create efficiency, while giving full play to the important role of the value of the entire logistics chain. During the upgrade process, we will utilize domestic wharf and port integrated solutions to enhance the Zhuhai base wharf. Our goal is to assist Zhuhai in becoming a regional marine center city and to support the Greater Bay Area in its role as an important fulcrum of the 'Belt and Road' initiative.
In September, Terminal Logistics completed the declaration of the 20,000-ton terminal project and received approval from the relevant Zhuhai municipal government departments. Terminal Logistics will take this opportunity to continue expanding its business and strive to reach the annual target of one million tons.
