The world's first 30mm large wall thickness spiral steel pipe was born in PCK!

Chu Kong Petroleum and Natural Gas Steel Pipe Holdings Limited (Stock Code: 01938.HK) has successfully overcome the technical challenges in manufacturing submerged arc welding helical pipes with extra-large thickness of 30 mm, marking a new breakthrough of the challenge-of-century for the domestic submerged arc welding helical pipes manufacturing industry. This achievement represents a significant advancement in the technology of the domestic submerged arc welding helical pipes manufacturing.

The breakthrough was accomplished in October 2023 in the Zhuhai Product Base of the company. The successful production of the first 30 mm ultra-thick submerged arc welding helical pipe with a large diameter of 3000mm was an outcome of extensive research and development, along with accurate production coordination.

This prototype made at the Zhuhai facility using high-strength Q355C steel, is 45 meters long and weighs 90 metric tons. It will be used in the engineering of the third east channel project in Xiamen. The full length of the project is 19.64 kilometers long, crossing the eastern sea in the form of a bridge eastwards at Guanyinshan, and terminating at Xiang'an Airport.
