In July 2019, PCK Zhuhai received an order to provide high-quality insulation pipes for the first district cooling system project of the Kai Tak Development Area, developed and constructed by the Hong Kong SAR Government.

The goal of the project is energy saving.

The DCS is a large-scale air conditioning system that utilizes seawater to produce chilled water at the central chiller plant. The chilled water is then transported through the distribution network to the user buildings of the Kai Tak Development for air conditioning, supplying cooling to a total area of 1.7 million square meters. Compared to conventional air conditioning systems, the use of DCS can save up to 35% of electricity consumption, equivalent to 85 million kWh per year. This is enough to power 18,000 households in Hong Kong annually, making it an energy-efficient and environmentally friendly option. The system is low carbon as well.

Low Carbon and Environmentally Friendly. The district cooling system not only reduces power consumption but also eliminates unit noise. Additionally, there is no need to install a water tower to dissipate heat, which helps to avoid the heat island effect. The completed system will save electricity equivalent to a reduction of 59,500 tons of carbon dioxide emissions. The Kai Tak DCS project began in 2011 and is being completed in three phases, with an expected completion date of 2025.

The project requires insulated steel pipes with specific specifications, complex technology, strict order requirements, and a short delivery cycle for completion. Upon receiving the order, PCK Zhuhai promptly established the project team and organized the process and production personnel to conduct technical reviews, production planning, quality control planning, raw material procurement, pre-production preparation, and other related tasks. With the guidance of the company and the diligent efforts of the frontline staff, the project was successfully completed on schedule. The production of the anticorrosive layer and thermal insulation coating began after approval by the owner's supervisor. The strict adherence to each process and excellent technical support provide a strong guarantee that the project will be delivered on schedule.

As the social economy continues to develop, energy-efficient and environmentally friendly district cooling systems will become a future trend in coastal city development and regional upgrading. PCK is confident and capable of providing high-quality piping services for the district cooling system. We are committed to contributing to social development and environmental protection.
